What is Vortex?

What is Vortex?

Vortex is a cloud gaming or game streaming service. Vortex allows you to play video games streamed to your device without the use of a traditional console or gaming PC.

Vortex is a platform in the cloud where you pay a subscription to gain access to a library of games, many of which require an activation license from other game marketplaces, such as Steam. Vortex has paid subscription tiers, each of which differ in the amount of hours you can play in a month. Higher tiers give you access to a larger library of available games.

To get started, as with all cloud gaming platforms, make sure you have good, stable internet and the basic hardware on which to play.

How do I play on Vortex?

To get started on Vortex, sign up for an account through Vortex and download the client for your Windows or macOS machine.

If you prefer to get started on your Android mobile device or Android TV, begin by downloading the Vortex app from the Play store.

Once you login to your device and have purchased a subscription from Vortex, find games through the Vortex search interface. Many games will require an additional license from an online games marketplace to launch.

Vortex recommends that you have internet speeds of 10 Mbps or greater, which means you should be prepared to use 4-5 GB/hr at minimum. The higher tiers of Vortex will have 1080p streaming capability soon, which will no doubt require greater connectivity. Other cloud gaming platforms already offering 1080p streaming generally recommended a consistent 25 Mbps connection at minimum.

You’re able to play on the Vortex platform on a wide variety of devices, including Android TV. Vortex reports compatibility with Xbox controllers, controllers with Xbox-button layout, and DualShock 4 controllers, though compatibility is dependent on the device being used.
